Does it require an LMS or SIS integration?
No. Students can connect Canvas themselves, or simply upload their schedule and syllabi. Nothing needs to be installed by the institution to pilot it.

What about student privacy and FERPA?

Yes. A tutor or coach can be invited by the student with access limited to one course and an access end date.
